Ok, this is a very important announcement for anyone holding an OG Defender, or Helios Defender 1 of 1 NFTs. We have some big changes coming soon!
As you may or may not know, we have multiple 1 of 1 Defenders scattered between our OG and Helios collections. Some of these may or may not be subject to IP infringements. T3 Play is not willing to risk this as we continue to grow this business.
What do we mean IP infringements?
Well, lets use our “Iron Man” Defender 1 of 1 as an example. The base character is a Defender which FF4 owns the IP (Intellectual property) rights for, but the skin is designed to resemble Ironman from Marvel. Its possible, if Marvel really wanted to, that they could take us to court and try charge us with reproducing their IP without a license for our own gain. We don’t think it would happen, but the costs of even going to court would be highly detrimental to T3 Play as a business in the first place.
We don’t want to leave the door open for any issues moving forward, so removing these 2D “PFP” images from front and center in our collections is what we want to address. That does not mean the current holder won’t get that particular NFT character to use in the game, however details in the 3D version compared to a flat 2D image will be much easier to show as a Defender Model with a skin, rather than a 2D outline containing IP from another entity.
The way we will address this starting with the OG Defender 1 of 1s is by airdropping “Custom Character NFTs” to the wallets of the current 1 of 1 holders. Each Token ID for the Custom Character NFTs will be recorded and a public database showing what that particular token IDs previous 1 of 1 character is, will be will be stored in that database.
For example “Iron Man” is token ID #913 in the OG collection. There will be a database kept that shows the original 1 of 1 name and image. This way, when the holder redeems their “Custom Character NFT” they can choose to have the original 1 of 1 created, OR, they can design their own character within our guidelines exactly like the 3 Gen Zero X-ion Custom Character holders can do.
We discussed this over a period of a week in #Defender HQ in the T3 Play discord and this option seemed to be the best way forward that addresses our current issue, while still allowing all holders the original benefits in-game.
For the remainder of the OG Collection (Non 1 of 1 characters), we proposed to change the image and properties of ALL OG NFTs to create an OG “Battlepass” or similar. This would become a generic image/video, with new properties and stats. All other benefits that OGs currently come with will remain - token claim, airdrops, benefits in game etc all remain.
If you have a specific OG Defender you wanted to play as in-game, don’t worry, you will have access to all trait combinations available other than 1 of 1 Defenders.
Helios Defenders
The main Helios Defender collection will remain the same as it is now, however the solution for 1 of 1s used above with the OG collection will be implemented with the Helios 1 of 1s too. The only difference is, rather than Helios 1 of 1 holders being airdropped a separate new “Custom Character NFT”, their current Helios 1 of 1 Defender image and properties will be swapped out for a “Helios Custom Character NFT” image and properties.
This means they will retain the original token ID, and also retain all the Helios Defender benefits like token claim, airdrops, in-game benefits.
We realise this is not going to be the best solution for everyone, but we think this is the best solution that achieves what we need to address. As you know with FF4 and T3 Play, our goal is to look after and reward everyone in the community, and for that to continue to happen the success of the business is paramount. This decision is not one taken lightly, but does need to be acted on quickly.

Do you own an OG Defender?
- Your NFT image and properties will completely change soon
Do you own an OG 1 of 1 Defender?
- Your current NFT will become a new NFT as above
- You will be airdropped a brand new “Custom Character NFT” from our Custom Character Collection
Do you own a Helios Defender?
- All non 1 of 1 Helios Defenders will stay exactly as is
Do you own a Helios 1 of 1 Defender?
- Your NFT will become a “Custom Character NFT”
